Speak up even if your voice shakes
Overview
If you’ve ever found yourself grappling with the challenge of addressing an audience, whether it’s during a public speaking engagement, an interview, or a discussion about your work, you’re not alone. It’s a common hurdle that many of us face.
At Your-E Talk Workshops, participants will gain valuable insights into how to enhance the delivery of their message through storytelling. They will delve into the methodology of conscious story creation, learning how to make their narratives relevant and impactful. This will be facilitated through the renowned public narrative framework of Marshall Ganz – Rita E. Hauser Senior Lecturer in Leadership, Organizing and Civil Society at the Kennedy School of Government.
What to expect?
By harnessing the transformative power of storytelling and narrative, Your-E students are not just passive observers of the uncertain world they live in. They have the ability to shape their responses, to rewrite the narratives that define them, and to create a future that reflects their values and aspirations.
Their unique stories will empower them to convey their values and ignite the motivation needed to drive positive change in their underserved communities. By engaging both the head and the heart, storytelling, and narrative not only educate Your-E students about the reasons for action but also propel them to take action. These challenges could range from environmental issues to social inequality and from educational disparities to healthcare access.
Through the Your-E Talk Workshops, participants embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. They will gain the tools to craft stories using the Public Narrative framework, developing narratives about their leadership journey (story of self), aligning their values with their communities (story of us), and addressing pressing challenges that demand urgent action (story of now).
“If you don’t author your public story, others will,
and they may not tell it in the way that you like.”
Marshall Ganz, Harvard Kennedy School
